The class leader, UNSC Halberd, was launched from Jupiter Station in 2489. The Halberd-class destroyer was first designed in 2481 as a replacement for the ageing Stalwart-class, itself a replacement for the Diligence-class. Sublight propulsion is provided by four high-thrust E-740 impulse drives located at the aft, with shipboard power being provided by a pair of D5O naval fusion reactors. A Halberd typically carries two D77 Pelicans as well as their associated support equipment.
Like the older Stalwart-class, Halberd-class destroyers are outfitted with a ventral launch bay capable of holding two dropships.
